Public Appearances
Our crew is often called upon to demonstrate their skills for the public. In addition to boat-building and operation of a Viking boat, our members can display a vast collection of Viking Age skills, including:
- Antler and Bone Carving
- Armoring
- Breadmaking
- Games
- Leatherwork
- Natural Dyes
- Metalsmithing
- Naalbinding
- Spinning
- Storytelling
- Weaving
- Woodcarving
Our onsite demonstration pricing is usually a custom affair, since our clients desire a varying collection of skills from the array we offer.
Nevertheless, the following examples of basic pricing for a weekend event may be helpful for advance planning purposes:
- 2 days of demonstrations, with a boat, and 2 costumed re-enactors - $300.00 plus expenses.
- 2 days of demonstrations, with a boat, 2 Viking tents, 5 costumed re-enactors, and with various armor and displays - $600.00 plus expenses.
- Viking Trading Encampment, to include a boat, 10 or more costumed re-enactors, multiple tents, armor and displays - $950.00 plus expenses.
Question: Our event has a tight budget. What do "expenses" include?
Answer: Travel, Food, and Lodging. Of course, these costs vary with each demonstration. Travel is an additional expense, usually driven by the cost of gasoline to transport our re-enactors and boat. Food arrangements may vary from a monetary allotment per re-enactor to meals provided by your event committee. Lodging is equally variable; however, our re-enactors are equipped to make camp in reasonable weather.
Question: Does your group have any special needs?
Answer: Bathrooms and drinking water within reasonable proximity to our display. If we are not camping, a private changing area may be necessary.
Question: How should we plan for your vehicles?
Answer: Our vehicles will need to access the display area for loading and unloading. Following setup, they should be positioned separate from the display but reasonably close as they provide us a secure storage area.
Question: How do we book a Viking Age Vessels demonstration for our event?
Answer: Click here to fill out an online form, or contact our Events Coordinator.
